Hey! My name is Rhyan Griffiths.
I’m a 20-year-old photographer and filmmaker based in Dunedin, New Zealand.
Since the age of 13 I’ve been drawn to the idea of capturing moments, freezing time and emotions in a way that tells a story without needing words. I’d describe myself as a bit of an all-rounder; I love photographing a wide range of subjects, from fast-paced sports to some of the jaw-dropping landscapes around New Zealand. Each shoot feels like a new adventure and an opportunity to show the world from a slightly different angle.
My love for photography started early on. It’s something that runs in the family, especially on my mum’s side. When I was 13 years old, I was given my first camera, and I instantly fell in love with the process of creating images. Over the years, what was initially a simple enjoyment grew into something deeper. Photography became not just a hobby, but a way of expressing how I see the world around me.
Living in New Zealand has helped boost my creativity quite a bit. The landscapes here are absolutely jaw-dropping. From rugged coastlines and rolling hills to the vibrant and beautiful Auroras. I love exploring and finding new places to shoot, and I’m constantly drawn to natural light and the way it can transform a photo.
When I take photos, I’m not just trying to document what’s in front of me; I’m trying to capture what it's like to be in that particular location. I want people to see my images and feel a connection with them and to see the world as I do.
Ultimately, photography is the way I share my perspective of what's around me. It helps me to slow down, notice the details, and everything in between. Whether it’s an individual portrait, a burst of motion, or a stunning landscape, I’m always chasing that sense of authenticity and wonder that first drew me to pick up a camera.
